Testimonial of the “ROLLA-RAY” Solar Blind installation at Nedbank Buildings DATED JULY 2022

The project entailed the installation of the transparent “ROLLA-RAY” solar blinds. The priority of this project was to ensure that:

1) Staff experience comfortable temperature levels in Summer and Winter, average 24 degrees Celsius.
2) Reducing operational cost on the Cooling HVAC Systems
3) Reduce electricity and water consumption and simultaneously save on the municipal bill.

The “ROLLA-RAY” blinds were manufactured and installed by Innovative Window Coverings C.C. and the installation was done at the following Nedbank building:

Nedbank 1 Breda Street , Paarl Building
A five storey North-facing building.

The north elevation received extreme heat via the windows for the whole day. The North face is also situated in a wind-shadow with the prevailing South Eastern- Summer wind having no effect on cooling the North facing facade. It became challenging to create comfortable temperature levels and the air conditioning system had to work extremely hard to try and create comfortable temperature levels on that side of the building during Summer. The operation of the air conditioning network resulted in the huge consumption of electricity and water and also a huge increase in cost. The average outside temperature during Summer was 40 degrees Celsius.

170 x “ROLLA-RAY” solar, heat rejecting, glare reducing, UV Filtering, height adjustable, "GREEN" P.E.T. solar blinds were manufactured and installed in all the windows that cover the north elevation of the building. Subsequent to the installation of the “ROLLA-RAY” blinds it become evident that we have less issues to create comfortable temperature levels, less concerns were logged at Help Desk, and the Municipal bills stabilized.

* The “ROLLA-RAY” solar blinds supplied in the installation 17 November 2011 are still in daily use today (July 2022) and as effective as when first installed.

* During the daytime, staff had the option to raise and lower blinds as per their preference and eliminate PC glare, without any optical discomfort, eye strain or loss of outward view.

* The “ROLLA-RAY” solar blinds were professionally and discretely installed over a full weekend with no disruption to the staff and the working environment.

The “ROLLA-RAY” is a vital energy cost saving component in every building which requires zero management with maximum cost saving effects. It is therefore my personal and professional experience that I recommend use of the “ROLLA-RAY” as an indispensible "must have" in any Office Precinct with Staff comfort and productivity and drastic Cooling cost reduction as priorities.
